Moonit is excited to be among the really great entrepreneurs presenting at our favorite local meetup Web2NewYork, which is a monthly gathering of hot New York City-based start-ups. We love the format of this meetup because it gives people the opportunity to not only mingle with vendors, freelancers, other entrepreneurs, investors and local resources but also the chance to watch live demos. That shakes things up a bit, gives us a chance to see what other start-ups like us are doing and also makes it easier to reach out to people afterwards. So come out to Gallery Bar on Orchard Street on Tuesday, October 20th, from 6-8pm to support us! We promise to put on a good show.

Moonit was on fire at TechCrunch in SF this past week, running relationship assessments for everybody's significant others, husbands, wives, crushes, exes, doormen, roommates, mother-in-laws, college buddies, and business partners on the DemoPit floor of TechCrunch50 2009. One thing we didn't realize was just how rewarding it would be to see our users' responses, which ranged from complete shock and disbelief to sheer joy and laughter… It's nice when you get the chance to put a smile on someone's face on such a hectic day for everyone. And one of these people was Troy, the (at first glance) imposing security guard in charge of monitoring all the comings-and-goings at TechCrunch.
At one point, Moonit was illegally hanging out in the press area doing a phone interview with a VIP blogger, and we couldn't afford to get uprooted during the call. When Troy got on Moonit's case about being in there, repeatedly asking us to leave or he'd "lose his job," Moonit cut a deal with him: we'd figure out his crazy love life in exchange for hanging out in the press area.

Moonit is still recovering from some serious jet lag, TMC (too much coffee) and sleep deprivation induced by the TechCrunch50 2009 DemoPit in San Francisco. But don't get us wrong, we're more than happy to take one for the team when it comes to demoing our product for our fans. There's nothing like seeing users engaged with the product, getting instant gratification and giving us their honest feedback. Many thanks to the folks at eROI who worked their buns off to get the kinks out of the offering and make sure Monday, September 14th went off without a hitch. Not to mention we got amazing feedback from everyone on our logo and brand design, too! Thanks to everybody for making Moonit a success. But the road is just beginning for us, and we're looking forward to making Moonit better and better every day.

Gone are the days when mommies reach for their glass of little helper once Oprah comes on? Maybe not, but the horrific Diane Schuler incident from earlier this month did rock the mommy world (and the rest of the country) when her autopsy revealed she was three sheets to the wind before driving the wrong way down a New York-area highway and killing herself, four children and three other people. Diane was a stable and confident mom by many people's accounts, and her substance abuse issues seemed to have gone undetected. Otherwise, she would never have been in a position to take care of those kids that day.
