Moonit doesn't want to be alarmists by any means, but we do have some reason to be concerned about the apocalypse being right around the corner, what with the financial — real estate — credit fiasco, diabolical ponzi schemes abound, earthquakes and now… plague! This ominous swine flu is quickly taking hold of any and every media outlet around. The WHO claims a "pandemic is imminent" and has escalated the swine flu rating from a Phase 4 to Phase 5, with the potential to reach a Phase 6, the most alarming level (to put it into perspective, the Avian Flu would have been a Phase 3 and SARS would have been a Phase 4 if this system were in place when those took hold).

Recent (horrifically) negative front-page news, coupled with our own (overwhelmingly) positive interactions over the past week, have moonit pondering the paradoxical nature of craigslist, the ultimate double-edged sword. For an investment of only $25 on a recent ad we placed, moonit has received a boatload of on-target local up-and-coming candidates for our open copywriting and design positions-far surpassing the applications we received after posting on sites asking at least $99 a month.
But this same tool that has garnered us such a huge ROI on our recruiting efforts also seems to attract the biggest misfits and weirdos known to man. A seemingly innocuous walk down the classifieds list for all of us unemployed, semi-employed and i-need-more-money-to-keep-living-in-nycers has us stumbling upon the naughtiest of gigs (britney spears look-alike wanted, dancers and swimsuit FEMALE models wanted, seeking ASIAN females for visual art performance, lingerie and foot model needed, sexy contestants wanted, attractive event girls for $$, GLBT chefs/cooks wanted for events) to suit even the most eccentric of tastes.

As promised last week, we asked our resident “moonman” to look at the astrological charts of the remaining 7 contestants on American Idol to see which ones had the best chance to win the show. After many long nights in front of his computer using moonit’s proprietary platform, the moonman has completed his research just in time for tonight’s show (4/14/09).
