the power of plaxo

Yesterday I (unfortunately) left my iphone on and woke up to an early morning wake-up from an e-mail alert. The alert was from Plaxo, letting me know that my boss' birthday was seven days away and would I like to send him a gift, choosing among free e-cards, for-purchase hard copy birthday cards, red envelope presents and barnes & noble gifts/gift cards.

Never mind that my boss must have entered his information in incorrectly because he is actually a Scorpio born on Nov 10th, the alert reminded me of something even more important: integration with Plaxo would be extremely critical in building out our professional relationship compatibility offering–which is something our P/T CTO Jeremy pounded the table on months ago. Like many bosses his age, mine is not yet on Facebook, but he is obviously using Plaxo. If our users have easy access to their business contacts' birth days, our professional offering has the chance to go into overdrive. The opportunities go beyond the calculator output itself but extend out to offerings like company e-cards, event invites and referrals ("I think this SVP Bus Dev would be a really great right-hand guy for you")…
